Power transmission and transformation projects convert the characteristics of electrical energy (primarily voltage and AC/DC form), and transmit power from its source to the point of demand. Under Standard HJ 24-2014 issued by China’s environmental authority, such projects are generally classified as AC transmission and transformation projects or DC transmission projects. AC projects include transmission lines and substations (or switching stations and series compensation stations), while DC projects include transmission lines, converter stations, and grounding electrode systems.
